Gold Hill, OR – (September 29, 2016) – Gold Hill’s Breeze Botanicals, an HB3460 Medical Marijuana Dispensary, announced via press release today that they will be Oregon’s first fully licensed Recreational Marijuana Retail licensee.

The press release stated the license is effective as of Saturday, October 1, 2016. No confirmation from the OLCC yet.

The store has a history of being there first. Breeze Botanicals was the first medical marijuana dispensary in the Rogue Valley when they opened their flagship boutique in Gold Hill, Oregon, in June 2014, following with a second store in Ashland (also a first for the Rogue Valley) in February 2015.

“At Breeze Botanicals we want to serve all people seeking medicinal herbs and didn’t want to have to choose between those with debilitating conditions and those with minor conditions,” said founder Brie Malarkey. “We also come into contact with people who are afraid to be a part of the medical program for fear of judgement or worse – losing government services for admitting use through the medical marijuana program. We feel licensing under OLCC gives us the ability to fulfill our mission to serve all no matter the condition or reason for seeking medicinal herbs.”

As OLCC licensed retailers, Breeze Botanicals says its stores will be able to serve OMMP patients tax free thanks to a legislative fix made in the past legislative short session. In addition, adult-use (recreational) customers will now be able to take advantage of the full menu of products available, instead of the limited options permitted for adult-use sale at medical dispensaries through the Oregon Health Authority’s (OHA) early-start program. The OHA early-start program sunsets at the end of this year.

The Breeze stores are part of a family of vertically-integrated companies owned and operated by Brie Malarkey and Jon Cunningham. Those businesses include, Sunna Ra Acres, founded in 2012 and licensed for recreational marijuana production in June 2016. The farm currently cultivates hops, peppermint, spearmint, anise, catnip, echinacea, motherwort and chamomile, along with several strains of cannabis. Most of the the 40 acre farm is still left in its natural state, and Sun God Medicinals, an herb infused product company that manufactures and produces herbal and cannabis goods, including herbal tinctures, balms, salves, lotions, oil, teas, elixirs, edibles and more. The Sun God Medicinals processing facility located in Central Point is still waiting for OLCC licensing.
